The job holder is also responsible for delivering and maintaining high service standards to internal and external clients. This role will act as the “engine room” for OMG Network, and the jobholder will be expected to have a strong commitment to accurate and timely execution of work.

  3. Accountabilities / Key responsibilities / Result Areas
  4. Overall – A key element of the role is to provide efficient, accurate and high quality technical, administrative and analytical support to relevant parts of the company. The role will incorporate routine as well as substantial quantities of ad-hoc work.

Program Configuration Consultants are also expected to contribute, under the direction of management, towards the development of the company. The team constantly faces new challenges driven by clients as well as internal factors and all members of the team are expected to actively adapt and assist in an effort to achieve efficiency.

Program Configuration Consultants are also expected to take an interest in developments within the Affiliate Marketing industry and the Internet in general, in particular to have an awareness of technical developments and issues that could have an effect on our business, both regionally and globally.

Whilst the role has a strong focus on the technical and configuration elements of support it also includes broader administrative support according to the needs of the Team and the wider business.

Key Result Areas

The following will form part of the key criteria for the role:

Effective 1st Line Support for Programme Configuration You will provide consistent, high quality support to relevant parts of the company. You will take responsibility for delivering a defined list of routine tasks as well as a regular flow of ad-hoc support requests. This will encompass all areas of programme configuration including (but not limited to) banding, contact & login setups, currencies & country configuration, programme details and creative management etc.

Effective 1st Line Support for Programme Tracking Configuration. Tracking configuration is a vital part of the overall programme configuration role, and you will provide high quality tracking support to relevant parts of the company. This will include supporting tracking setup on new programmes, liaising at a professional level with external and internal contacts in order to resolve setup queries and issues, managing and supporting bespoke (often complex) tracking configurations, investigating and resolving tracking issues with existing implementations, and testing new implementations.

Analytical and Troubleshooting Support

Applying an aptitude for attention to detail and technical know-how you will provide support with problem solving and technical analysis. This will involve working independently to analyse and dissect data in various formats, especially log files and Excel formats. You will also liaise directly with technical colleagues and developers on technical matters with a view to assisting with the solving of complex challenges.

Process Awareness. Processes are exceptionally important within the programme configuration role as an incomplete or inaccurately followed process can result in significant revenue loss for the business. You will be expected to know and work within a set of defined business processes, check lists and methods of working and you will be able to follow processes and check lists at a very detailed level, and you will understand the importance of ensuring that all steps are completed.

You will be expected to understand and flag with management where tasks cannot be completed within the standard processes, in order that alternative quality safeguards can be agreed. You should identify where an existing process or checklist may not be suitable for a task or setup, (especially where we may have bespoke implementations) and in these cases be able to define and implement a bespoke checklist or test plan.

It is very important to be able to prioritise issues, and where necessary escalate issues to management, where for example, an issue could have a significant effect on company revenue.

Quality Assurance and accuracy Through your day to day work you will be expected to demonstrate a consistent awareness and respect for the need for quality and accuracy of all work undertaken and delivered to clients or internally. It is vital to be able to recognise good vs poor quality and to flag instances where you cannot achieve the standards of quality and accuracy required.

Programme Configuration and tracking is vital to the business and hence the nature of the Programme Configuration Consultant role demands an “uncompromising approach to quality” – this means specifically that the following approach to the role is adopted:

  • Having a “QA mindset” – this means always being aware of the importance of quality and accuracy within the tasks being performed and being able to pay high attention to detail at all times. Detail is extremely important within the role (especially for example, when looking for errors or omission in code or URLs where the problem may not be immediately obvious or the effect may not be immediately apparent).
  • Having a “Questioning and cautious” approach to all work – this means always being able to question or analyse the information presented or responses to queries (both verbally and in writing) , often to consider improved or alternative solutions and to not always assume that the information provided is accurate or correct.
  • Being “Risk aware” and identifying areas of the business or role that may be of higher risk than others – such as identifying and raising awareness of possible problems and issues before they occur, hence avoiding unnecessary costs and / or loss of revenue for the business.
  • Having a structured approach to work - this means having the ability to define bespoke test plans and checklists as above, as well as having a thorough, methodical approach to all tasks, and being able to solve problems by process of elimination.

Communication – Much of the work carried out in the role involves direct verbal and written communication with clients, 3rd parties (such as tracking solution providers and agencies) and internal departments and development teams.

The nature of the work means that it is often very technical but an essential ability of the role is to be able to communicate technical (and often complex) information to non-technical people in an accurate and consistent manner. Also, it is important to be able to accurately summarize technical queries and issues for technical people, in order that they can quickly understand the issue and provide relevant answers.

Exceptional levels of verbal and written communication to a high standard (both in accuracy and use of language and grammar) are required in order to ensure that clients receive accurate, professional and timely information about related work. You will adopt a professional, “polished“ approach to all communications as you will be acting as an ambassador for OMG when dealing with external contacts.

It is important to be able to provide feedback to management and colleagues internally, especially with regard to the possible effect of tracking issues on the business. Also, it is particularly important to promote the usage of associated processes within the business.

You will work with and interact effectively with international colleagues and whilst reporting to local management. you will take guidance from senior members of the UK based configuration and operations teams.

OMG encourages an open and constructive approach to problem solving. You will need to be good at explaining to management the challenges and issues relating to the work you are asked to do.

Other Role Requirements

  • Good technical aptitude with the ability to understand often complex requirements and issues
  • Hard working, good time keeping with a positive attitude
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Being able to identify areas of the role the can be improved, and more specifically where processes or individual configurations can be improved to increase programme performance and / or revenue.
  • Ability to work under pressure and priorities tasks appropriately, and the ability to escalate to management issues that could have a significant effect on company revenue.
  • Good problem-solving abilities and a thorough, methodical approach to all tasks.
  • Always paying high attention to detail, taking into account cultural and localization issues where necessary
  • Organized, neat and tidy approach to work. This includes the ability to store and locate information in an organized manner so that it can be quickly retrieved when necessary.
  • Good experience with using computers, internet, Microsoft software products
